SHARES OF AIRPORT GROUPS FALL DUE TO CHANGE IN TARIFFS
20 de octubre de 2023
Mexican airport groups have once again reported a decrease in their shares on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV). This follows legislative changes approved by the Chamber of Deputies on October 19, 2023, which raised payment fees.
The decrease in earnings for these groups stems from a provision in the Federal Law of Rights that implements an uptick in airport taxes from 5% to 9% of the concessionaire's gross income.

This development occurs just one week after the three airport companies, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (Asur), and Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA), suffered historic drops in the BMV. However, none of the three companies have yet to recuperate.
The Mexican government asserts that these adjustments will not have adverse effects on the financial or operational status of airport groups and that passengers will benefit from the changes.
